Geraldine "Gerry" Homan
Geraldine "Gerry" Homan passed from this life on Monday, March 6, 2017. She was born in Erie on February 18, 1940 and grew up in McKean Township. She was a graduate of McKean High School Class of 1958 where she was a cheerleader, member of the girls' basketball team, and editor of her yearbook.
Gerry was a long time employee of the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2002. She was an active member of the American Postal Workers Union and editor of their local newsletter for many years. She was also an involved member of NARFE, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.
Gerry lived in northern California for almost 20 years before moving back to Erie permanently. She was part gypsy and had an adventurous spirit. She instilled in her family a traveling wanderlust, whether it was touring Europe or spending time camping in the Sierra Mountains. She loved sewing, making quilts for all the kids in the family. She loved to laugh, and, most of all, she loved people, treating everyone she met like family. She wasn't just a mother, aunt, sister, grandmother, or friend; she was "GiGi".
She goes to join in Heaven her two sons; Andrew Jay Stephens and Patrick "Phat Pat" Stephens; parents, Raymond M. and Barbara Kolenda Homan; two sisters, Patricia Ann Evans and Dolores Harris; and two brothers, Raymond Homan and Larry Homan.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Stephens; granddaughter, Samantha Stephens; grandson, Jarid Halm; three sisters, Dahte Homan and Ann J. Homan both of Erie and Ruth Ann Morrison (Steve) of Corrales, New Mexico; two brothers, John Homan (Vera Jean) of Lake City and David Homan of Grass Valley, CA; and by many loving nieces and nephews around the world.
Per her wishes, no viewing hours will be observed and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers or condolences, you may make contributions in her memory to the A.N.N.A. Shelter, 1555 East 10th St., Erie, PA 16511 or to the Erie City Mission, 1017 French St., Erie, PA 16512. To send condolences visitwww.orlandofuneralhome.com. The John R.
