Gertrude L. Luke Pongratz

Gertrude L. Luke Pongratz, age 87, resident of Forestview Skilled Nursing Center, died Friday, February 24, 2012 there after an extended illness.

She was born September 21, 1924 in Erie, a daughter of the late Neil and Pauline Buhl Luke. She lived in Erie her entire life. She had worked at Marx Toys and Plastek Industries.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Pongratz and one brother, Neil Luke.

She is survived by her daughter, Regina M. Brasco of Erie; one brother, Clarence Luke and wife Maryann of Erie; one sister, Beatrice Wheeler and husband Howard of Florida; three grandchildren, Mark Brasco, Lisa Dickson and Jackie Brasco and four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Matthew, Jonathan and Giavanni. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at the family's convenience. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1128 State St. Suite 301, Erie, PA 16501.

The family would like to thank the staff at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center and Woodlands for the wonderful care given to Gertrude.
