Giovanni E. "John" Scalzitti

Giovanni E. "John" Scalzitti, age 86, of Erie, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at his residence after an extended illness. He was born March 4, 1922 in Erie, PA, a son of the late Felix and Anna Palotta Scalzitti.

He was a life member of Brick Layers Union Local #9, where he served as past president, secretary and business agent. He enjoyed gardening, golf and was an avid sports fan.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Nick Scalzitti and two sisters, Gilda Myers and Annamarie Scalzitti.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Olive "Mollie" Ingro Scalzitti; a son, John F. Scalzitti; one sister, Nelda Hart and her husband Richard and a dear aunt, Dena Scalzitti all of Erie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a Funeral Service there on Saturday at 10 am. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
