Gladimiro "Bucky" Bucarelli

Gladimiro "Bucky" Bucarelli, age 76, of Millcreek, died Friday, June 18, 2010 at his residence on his 44th wedding anniversary after an extended illness.

He was born April 13, 1934 in Rende Cosenza, Italy, a son of the late Pietro and Rosina Turco Bucarelli. He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School. He had worked at Marx Toys and at the Erie Housing Authority for 35 years, retiring in July 2009. He served in the United States Army. He was a member of PROBUS, Erie Maennerchor, the Nuova Aurora, Giuseppe Mazzini Association and the Saint Paul's Choir and Holy Name Society. He was active in local politics and enjoyed an annual fishing trip, wine making, preparing Italian cuisine and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Bucarelli.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, JoAnn Marucci Bucarelli; two daughters, Rosina Jones and husband Brian and Lisa Abbate and husband John; two sons, David Bucarelli and John Paul Bucarelli; one brother, Nino Bucarelli and wife Maria and two grandchildren, Brianna and Justin Jones all of Erie. He is also survived by one nephew, Pietro Bucarelli; two nieces, Liliana Kennedy and husband Gordon and Silvana Mirarchi and husband Dr. Ferdinando Mirarchi; two great-nephews, Gordon Kennedy and Nando Mirarchi and two great-nieces, Ciarra Kennedy and Gianna Mirarchi.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Tuesday at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9:30 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
