Glorine M. Pizzo

Glorine M. Pizzo, age 89, passed away on January 21, 2023 after an extended illness. Born in Erie on March 16, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Quintino and Fortuna (Bonnicoli) Batistelli.

Glorine was a 1951 graduate of Academy High School. She spent her entire working career in the banking industry, acquiring her first job at Union Bank in 1949. She worked at First National and later at PNC as head teller. She spent 48 years in the industry. She also worked at DiSils Pizza Shop owned by her family.

She was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish serving on the finance committee and the Big Give Away for many years. Glorine was crafty and had a keen eye for design. She spent many years going to ceramics and her many pieces were displayed throughout her home. She was an avid bowler, a Cleveland Indians fan and adored Frank Sinatra. Glorine left a lasting impression on everyone she met. From her loyal customers at the bank who would bypass open windows to wait in her line just to speak with her to her Academy classmates who she would still lunch with monthly, to her wonderful nurses. Everyone was better for having known her! Her passion was her family. She always enjoyed having family around and was happiest when she was able to cook for her extended family!

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ben in 2021, two siblings Lena Savelli and Naomi DiBacco.

She is survived by a daughter Mary Jane Carroll (Jeff) and a son Stephen Pizzo (Erin); four grandchildren Carly Carroll Pollock (Kevin) of Houston, Texas, Christopher Carroll (Jillian), Gabriella (Ella) Pizzo and Samuel Pizzo, all of Erie, two great grandchildren, Tinsley Pollock and Piper Carroll and a dear cousin, Lorraine Squeglia.
