Harold "Sonny" Sczepanski

Harold "Sonny" Sczepanski, 79, passed away May 24, 2008 at his home in Temple Terrace, FL after an extended illness. He was born December 9, 1928 in Erie, Pa.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and served aboard a Naval Destroyer in the China Sea. He retired from the City of Erie as a Dispatcher and moved to Tampa, FL in 2003.

He is survived by his wife Geraldine (Serafini); his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mike Meggison; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Christina Sczepanski; five grandchildren, Robert Sczepanski, Ryan Sczepanski, Megan Sczepanski, Kyle Meggison and Macenzie Meggison; one great granddaughter, Danika Sczepanski; sisters, Verna Sucharski and Florence Olowinski; many nieces and nephews.

He loved wildlife and nature and loved feeding the birds and all of God's creatures. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Mark the Evangelist Church.

A Funeral Mass was held at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Tampa, FL. A private burial for the immediate family will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to LifePath Hospice. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling local arrangements.
