Henry J. "Hank" DiPanfilo, (Mr. D), 88 of Erie, passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born August 22, 1929 in Erie, a son of the late Pasquale and Vallie Amatangelo DiPanfilo.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary DiPanfilo and Catherine Phelps and two brothers, Michael and Robert DiPanfilo.

Hank served in the US Army for three years during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he worked for Marx Toys where he met his wife of 64 years, Mary Carol Palmer. They had four daughters, Kathi Lieb (Tom), Vallie Strickland, Renee Kubeja (David), and Patti DiPanfilo.

For 28 years, Hank was maintenance supervisor at Villa Maria Academy, where he was affectionately known as "Mr. D." He was also recognized for his generosity of time and considerable talent to assist those in need of his help. With humor, integrity and kindness, he impacted many lives.

Hank is also survived by five grandchildren, Sara Lieb, Adam Riesdorph, Andy DiPanfilo, Paul Kubeja and Eric Kubeja, and a great grandchild, Matthew Riesdorph, as well as a large extended family.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum.
