Howard E. "Earl" Wilson
Howard E. "Earl" Wilson, age 80, of Sterrettania Road, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge after an extended illness.
He was born January 17, 1928 in Erie, a son of the late Howard O. and Thelma A. Bright Wilson. He lived in Erie his entire life. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a graduate of Gannon University with a Masters in Education and worked as a teacher at General McLane High School for 33 years. He was a member of Fairview Area Historical Society, an avid musician and enjoyed woodworking, reading, painting, beer and wine making.
He was preceded in death by his three daughters, Dawn E. Stone, Eve Wilson, and Sheila Anne Wilson-Lantz and a brother, Harold J. Wilson. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Audine I. "Dee" Yacobozzi Wilson of Fairview; two sons, Howard O. Wilson and his wife Eryn of Erie and Daniel T. Wilson of Florida; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Wilson of Maine; one brother, Norman O. Wilson and his wife Linnea of Colorado and four grandchildren, Tanya Stone, Michael Wilson, Maggie Wilson and Kate Wilson. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Tuesday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10:00 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
