James A. Caruso Jr

James A. Caruso, Jr. 73, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Snyder Memorial Hospital, Marienville, PA.

Jim was born November 17, 1944 in Erie, a son of the late James (Yakee) and Lillian DiBello Caruso.

He attended St. Michael's grade school, and graduated from Cathedral Preparatory School, Gannon College and the University of Pittsburgh. He was a registered Pharmacist and owner of Fairview Pharmacy in the early 70's.

He married Joyce Susan Stahlman on February 1, 1975. On April 26, 1975, Jim and Joyce were involved in a serious automobile accident in Atlanta, GA. Joyce died on May 7, 1975 and Jim was diagnosed with irreversible brain damage. He returned to Erie and was admitted to the Warren State Hospital where he lived for four years. He was later moved to Anchor Inn which then became Neuro Restorative in Fairview, PA where he resided for 40 years. When Jim's health started to fail he was moved to Snyder Memorial Nursing Facility in Marienville, PA.

Jim never changed; with his personality and quick wit he made many friends and never lost his sense of humor.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a great-nephew, Jordan James McTavish.

He is survived by his sister Elsie K and her husband Ralph Pasquino; three nieces, Letty Marie Mead (Matt), Alicia McTavish, and Katrina Campbell (David). Also surviving are nine great nieces and nephews; Meghan (Nick), Mitchell, Jake, Griffin, Taylor, Matthew, Britany, Jena, and Ethan; and a special person, Misty.

Interment will be at Trinity Cemetery at the convenience of the family. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling the arrangements.
