James DeCarolis Jr.

James "Jim" DeCarolis, Jr., age 65, of Erie, died Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at Saint Vincent Health Center. He was born February 1, 1942 in Erie, a son of the late James Vincent and Marian LaRiccia DeCarolis. He was a graduate of Academy High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He was a member of the musical group the DelRays. He worked at Bucyrus Erie Company and Riley Power Parts, retiring in 2006. He was Vice President of Bucyrus Erie Steelworkers and served on the Board of Directors at Sacred Heart Ushers Club. He was a member of the Knights of St. John and South Erie Turners. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed horseshoes, bocce, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Leah C. Weber DeCarolis of Erie; two daughters, Laura Caldwell and her husband, Timothy of Waterford, PA, and Sandy Christensen and her husband Erik of Erie; two sons, Robert DeCarolis and his wife Star, and Fred Tarbosso III, both of Erie; two brothers, Leonard DeCarolis and his wife, Sue of Erie, David DeCarolis and his wife Trudy of McKean, PA and one sister, Karen DeCarolis of Erie. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Amanda Swanson and her husband Brandon, Timothy Caldwell, Skyler and Hailey DeCarolis and Emma and Evan Christensen, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there Saturday at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Fund, c/o Erie Community Foundation, 125 West Sixth Street, Erie, PA 16509 or to the Regional Cancer Center, 2500 West 12th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
