James E. Nelson

James E. Nelson, age 73, of Erie passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by family after a short illness on Sunday, August 18, 2013. He was born on March 16, 1940, the son of the late Harold and Amelia Serafini Nelson.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and was married to Charleen A. Cirillo Nelson for 53 wonderful years. His descendants all reside in Erie and include his children, Matt (Laurie) Nelson, Todd Nelson (Kevin Ray), and Jamie (Dan) Moser; grandchildren, Tony (Brittany) Nelson, Derek Lichtinger, Jacob Lichtinger, Megan Nelson, and Shanna (Matt) Koval; great grandchildren, Kara Nelson and Ariana Nelson; and sister, Karen Laney.

Jim worked at Steris for 34 years where he made many friends. After retirement, he and Charleen loved spending winters in Florida.

He always enjoyed boating, bowling, traveling, Nascar racing, bicycling, and time with his family.

Friends and family are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc. at 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 6 to 9 pm and may attend a funeral service there on Thursday at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

We love and miss him already and he will be in our hearts forever.
