James H Traczenski

James H Traczenski, 67, of Erie died on Saturday May 6, 2023 at his home.

He was born September 8, 1955 a son to the late Alois and Mary (Cooper) Traczenski.

James grew up in Erie graduating from Tech memorial High School in 1972. After completing high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served with the 3rd Recruit Training Battalion at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, CA. Following his honorable discharge from the Marines, he returned to Erie and started working at Erie Forge and Steel, where he remained for almost twenty years, rising to the position of foreman.

James yearned for change and decided to pursue his passion for education. He enrolled in college in his mid-40s and graduated from Edinboro University with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Master's degree in Speech Pathology. James's commitment to education helped him transition into a new career path, where he worked as a mental health therapist in the prison system, rehab centers, and troubled youth areas. He used his life's experience and wisdom to connect with young people and help them overcome the challenges they faced.

Outside of work, James had many hobbies that kept him busy. He loved to solve puzzles and spent hours creating intricate crafts. He was also an accomplished carpenter, working with wood and resin to create unique pieces of furniture that he often gifted to friends and family. Visitors to his home were amazed by his large-scale LEGO creations, including a two-foot-long United States Marine Corps train.

James was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing from an early age. He and his wife kept a garden for many years, tending to it as a labor of love. James always found time to pursue his passions and spend time with his loved ones.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Kathy (Brigante) Traczenski.

He will be greatly missed by his family which include his daughter, Beverly Jones (Keith); son, James Traczenski (Alyssa Allen); brothers, Charles Traczenski (Mary), Thomas Traczenski, and John Traczenski; grandchildren, Jared, Van, and Nina Jones; as well as several nieces and nephews; and beloved cat Milo.

The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
