James M. "Jim" Ferrare
James M. "Jim" Ferrare, age 88, formerly of Curry-Shell Apartments died Friday, May 30, 2008 at Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge. He was born May 5, 1920 in Reynoldsville, PA, a son of the late Frank and Carmella Santora Ferrare. He lived in Erie most of his life. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was an instructor at OIC for 18 years and had worked as a toolmaker at Griswold Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Southwest Erie Lions Club. He was a devoted family man and an avid sports fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Petrianni Ferrare; four brothers, Cudgie, Michael, John and Andrew Ferrare and two sisters, Angeline Scalise and Civilia Phillips. He is survived by his two sons, Jamie Ferrare and his wife Barbara of Oakton, VA and Michael Ferrare and his wife Caroline of Fairview, PA; one sister, Lucy DeSanti of Erie and three grandchildren, Erin Ferrare of San Francisco, CA, Joseph Ferrare of Madison, WI and Mickey Ferrare of Fairview, PA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Tuesday at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9:30 am. A Christian Wake Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday at 3 pm. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Southwest Erie Lions Club, 1207 West 20th St., Erie, PA 16502.
