James R. Welsh Sr.
James R. Welsh Sr., age 63, of Poplar Street, died Thursday, February 12, 2009 in Buffalo, New York after a brief illness. He was born February 20, 1945 in Beaver Falls, a son of the late Dorothy Edinger.
He lived in Erie most of his life. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Superior Bronze, EMI and Luigi's Bar and Grill. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, participated in dart leagues and enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David Rimer.
He is survived by his companion, Jill Stanton of Erie; two daughters, Tammy S. Bliss and her husband Roger and Melissa Welsh; two sons, Jerry Welsh and James Welsh Jr. all of Erie; four brothers, John Rimer and his wife Brenda, Frank Rimer, Eugene Rimer and Matt Rimer and his wife Rhonda all of Greenville, PA; two sisters, Christyne Barger of Greenville, PA and Patricia Evans and her husband Simon of Cochranton, PA. He is also survived by his former wife, Barbara Welsh, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Monday at 10:30 am.
