James S. Woodward

James S. Woodward, age 79, of Erie, died Sunday, September 28, 2008 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born September 12, 1929 in Erie, a son of the late Edgar and Theresa Coughlin Woodward.

He had worked as a sheet metal worker and was a member of the Sheet Metal Union Local #12. He was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Ushers, and the Knights of St. John. He had coached Boys Baseball for 15 years and was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Anne Hites, a grandson, Matthew Kuhn, and a son-in-law, Peter Preteroti. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Anne M. DeMartino Woodward, of Erie; two daughters, Theresa Preteroti and Mary Kuhn, and her husband, Patrick, all of Erie; two sons, James Woodward and his wife, Laurie, Waterford, PA, and Bill Woodward and his wife Cecily, Cambridge Springs, PA, six grandchildren, Bryan, Nicholas, Stephanie, Thomas, Christopher and Lisa, and a dear friend, Tom McClintock of Erie. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. And are invited to attend a service there on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. Followed by a Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church, 1626 West 26th Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
