Jelsomina DiMarco Carey
Jelsomina "Jel" DiMarco Carey lifelong Erie resident, passed away Friday, November 12, 2021, at the age of 97. She was born April 2, 1924, in Erie, to the late Pasquale and Maria DiFilippo DiMarco. She was the third oldest of nine children.
Jel graduated from Strong Vincent High School and Orra Jean Beauty Academy. She worked at Girard High School as a secretary for the principal for twenty years until her retirement.
Jel volunteered at the Cancer Center and Mercy Center and was a member of the Montenero Ladies Society. She was a lifelong member of Saint Paul's Church where she received the Sacraments of Baptism, Communion, Confirmation and Marriage.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Serafino (Ida), Vincent and Patrick DiMarco; and three sisters, Antoinette "Toni" DiMarco, Ernestine Beck (Ray), and Lillian Olszewski (Ed).
She is survived by her sister, Alice Fuhrman and brother, Ronald DiMarco (wife Patti); and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Attendees are required to wear masks. Arrangements are being handled by the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, PA 16502.
Jel's family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and staff at Independence Court and the staff at Lakeland Hospice for all the love and care they showed Jel.
