Jo Anne Sandbower Enterline
Jo Anne Sandbower Enterline, age 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Forestview Skilled Nursing Center. She was born on May 9, 1932 in Cumberland, MD, a daughter of the late John E. and Bluebell Barrett Sandbower.
Jo Anne graduated From Eastern High School in Baltimore MD in 1949. Subsequently she graduated from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in 1955, where she completed her Bachelor of Science and Pharmacy degree. Remarkably, Jo Anne was one of only three women in her graduating class. It was during this time she met her future husband, Robert who was a dental student. She practiced as a pharmacist until her youngest child was born.
Jo Anne and her husband Bob moved their young family to Erie in 1962. Throughout the years Jo Anne was actively involved in the American Association of University Women, the Erie Playhouse, the Erie Philharmonic, the Erie County Dental Auxiliary where she served as President. She was a past member of the Erie Yacht Club, and the Kahkwa Club.
She previously enjoyed and engaged in tennis, sailing, skiing and motorcycle riding on the back of her husband Bob's various bikes. She and Bob were blessed to travel, including riding with Bob on his motorcycle throughout the United States and many Eastern and Western European countries.
She will be remembered as a first-class chef, a gracious and classy host, a loving wife, sister, parent, grandparent, and friend. She never had a harsh word for anyone and always found the best in people. Her family and friends especially appreciated her kindness, wisdom, and dry wit.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Dr. Robert H. Enterline and her brother, John E. Sandbower III.
Jo Anne is survived by her four children, Randall H. Enterline (Alex) of Neshanic, NJ, Bradley K. Enterline (Lauri) of Erie, Dr. Barry A. Enterline (Lisa) of Rochester, NY, and Sandra E. Enterline (David Walker) of San Francisco, CA; her sister, Elizabeth "Betsy" Sandbower of Dallas, TX; and her ten grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
No calling hours will be observed. Funeral arrangements by the John R Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, in Erie, are private and being held at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
