John A. Vendetti

John A. Vendetti, 72, of Erie, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 14, 2020 at UPMC Hamot. He was born July 7, 1948 in Erie, a son of the late Alex and Angeline DiPlacido Vendetti.

John served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

John served as a Magisterial District Judge in Erie's 3rd Ward from 1976 until his retirement in 2006. After his retirement he worked at Downing Golf Course where he walked his dog Riley every day.

John had a wonderful sense of humor which will be missed by his family and friends. He was a talented golfer and guitar player, a Beatles fan, and an avid volunteer and pet rescuer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Carol Woznicki and Marilyn Kossbiel.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie Vendetti; one step-daughter, Amber Oaks (Vinnie); brother, Frank Vendetti (Debbie); one sister, Lucille Vendetti; and three grandchildren, Kyla, Shaina, and Camille. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Riley.

Friends are invited to call on Saturday at Saint Paul Church, 1617 Walnut Street, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass there at 11:00 a.m. Attendees must wear masks and abide by social distancing standards. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc. is handling arrangements. The Mass will be live-streamed on the funeral home's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/orlandofuneralhome). Memorials may be made to Erie Trap and Release, 3335 Peach St., Erie, PA 16508.
