John DiAngi
John DiAngi, age 89, of Erie, went to be with the Lord Christmas morning, Tuesday, December 25, 2007.
He was born in Erie, PA on September 21, 1918, a son of the late Gaetano and Christina Ruggiero DiAngi. He lived in the Erie area all his life. He attended Strong Vincent High School. He served in the United States Army as a surgical technician during World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He worked as a shipping clerk at Continental Rubber Works and as a finisher and painter for Bongiorno and DiAngi Custom Home Builders. He loved to garden and enjoyed fishing with his son. He played the trumpet in the church orchestra and loved hymns.
He was preceded in death by three brothers Sam, Paul and Angelo DiAngi and four sisters, Josephine LaPlaca, Mary Vitello, Elizabeth Snell and Mildred DiAngi.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carmella Bongiorno DiAngi; his son, Philip DiAngi and his wife Rebecca of Girard, PA; a daughter Sandra DiAngi-Hashisaki, MD and her husband Peter of Bellview, WA and three grandchildren, Emiko Hashisaki, Brian Hashisaki and Matthew DiAngi. He is also survived by beloved brothers-in-law, Angelo Bongiorno and John Bongiorno both of Erie and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Service Saturday at Erie First Assembly of God, 8150 Oliver Rd., at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Erie First Assembly of God, 8150 Oliver Rd., Erie, PA 16509.
