John Gentile
John Gentile, 91, of Erie, formerly of Summit Township Route 19, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 surrounded by his family at Manchester Presbyterian Lodge.
He was born September 7, 1918 in Erie, a son of the late Carlo and Lucia Lombardi Gentile. He lived in Erie his entire life. He served in the United State Army during World War II. He worked at Kaiser Aluminum as a Journeyman Electrician for 23 years, retiring in 1980. He was a first generation Italian American, a life member of the VFW, a member of the Knights of Columbus and Saint Francis Usher's Club in McKean.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Dominick, Pasquale and Anthony Gentile and two sisters, Marie Ferrando and Margaret Bennett.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Ernestine E. Robinson Gentile of Erie; one daughter, Nancy J. Gentile of Voorhees, NJ; three sons, Arthur C. Gentile and wife Sandra of Belview, FL, John R. Gentile and wife Rita of Harrisonburg, VA, Anthony H. Gentile and wife Stacey of Waterford, PA. Also survived by Cynthia Gentile, Dorothy Wadsworth and Maryann Ross, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday evening from 7 to 9 pm and Tuesday from 9 am until time of Funeral Service there at 10am. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
