Joseph E. Grande
Joseph E. Grande, age 82, resident of Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home, died Thursday, October 20, 2011 there. He was born July 2, 1929 in Erie, a son of the late Joseph and Josephine Qualtiere Grande.
He served in the United States Army during World War II where he received the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. Joseph worked at Continental Rubbers Works and was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He enjoyed gardening, bowling and crossword puzzles.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa Mikolajczyk Grande; five brothers, Peter, Carl, Benny, Louis and William Grande and two sisters, Philomena Ferri, Mary Tatar; a long time friend, Mary Rigazzi and four nephews.
He is survived by three sons, Glen Grande and wife Joy and Mark Grande and his companion Jodi Eshbaugh both of Erie and Brian Grande and wife Janet of TX; two daughters, Karen Shandorf of TX and Paula Cherry and husband Steve of League City, TX; one sister, Rose DeMarco of Erie and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 4 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service there at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Clifford B. Hamilton officiating. Burial will be private at Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home.
