Joseph L. Allessie
Joseph L. Allessie, 72, of Erie, died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital following an extended illness. He was born August 10, 1942 in Erie, a son of the late Louis and Ann Pezzino Allessie.
He was a graduate of Tech Memorial High School. He had served in the United States Army 101 Airborne Division during the Viet Nam War and had worked at General Electric.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and cooking. He was a member of the St. Paul's Holy Name Society, Sons of Little Italy, Siebenbuerger Club, and the American Legion Post 571.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Louis Allessie and one sister, Nicoletta Dilimone.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary L. Wescott Allessie of Erie; two daughters, Anna Allessie (Mark) of Erie, and Michelle M. Kowalczuk (Scott) of Maine, one son, Joseph L. Allessie of Erie; seven grandchildren, Alicia, Stephanie, Mark, Conan, Cody, Brianna and Jordan and two great-grandchildren, A'mya and Izak.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Paul's RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
