Joseph M. Massello
Joseph Michael Massello passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 to be with Lord's heavenly choir of angels. He was born September 27, 1919 in Erie, the youngest son of Michael and Magdelina Fatica Massello.
He was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School and Erie Business Center. He had worked at General Electric for 42 years, retiring in 1982. He was choir director at St. Paul's RC Church for 40 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Erie Maennerchor and Nuova Aurora Clubs.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia A. Rocco Massello of Erie; two daughters, Janet L. Grieshaber, of Erie and Mary Ellen McClanahan and her husband, Jeff, Atlanta, GA; one son, David J. Massello and his wife Peggy, of Highland Park, IL; one brother, Nick Massello, Naples, FL; and two sisters, Sister Theresa Massello and Lucy Pace, both of Erie. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Louis, John and Little Nick Massello and two sisters, Anne Massello and Mary Pirello and a grandson, Paul Massello.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at St. Paul's RC Church, 1617 Walnut St.
A Vigil Prayer Service will be held on Monday at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m.
The family has requested that floral tributes be omitted.
