Joyce Irene Illig Quadri

Joyce Irene Illig Quadri, of Erie, age 86, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2021 after a valiant battle with dementia exacerbated by Covid-19. She was born April 22, 1934 in Erie, a daughter of the late George and Irene Wallace Illig.

Joyce graduated from Academy High School in 1952, and always looked forward to each of her class reunions. Joyce was employed at American Sterilizer Company (AMSCO) as an account representative and worked as a realtor for Crandell and Associates Realty. She was proud to have earned a marketing degree from Gannon University while working full-time and raising a family. Later, she worked part-time as a teacher's aide and loved teaching cross country skiing to children, presenting helmet safety to elementary students, and most of all competing in amateur senior sports, especially the Erie Quad Games. Her community of friends among local cyclists, runners, swimmers, triathlon competitors, and skiers filled her with joy that was only surpassed by that for her four grandsons. She treasured her time together with all generations of athletes and time with her children and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Illig and former husband Richard J. Quadri.

She is survived by her two daughters, Denise Quadri (Laurie Hogan), Donna Quadri-Felitti (Pat) and son, Chip Quadri (Claire); one brother, Leslie Illig (Linda); two sisters, Mary Finazzo (Rocco, deceased) and Sally McClemens (Tom); and four grandchildren, Jamie Quadri (Elara Willett), Daniel Quadri, Jonathan Hogan, and Kevin Hogan. She is also survived by two great grandchildren, Afton and Arden Quadri and many nieces and nephews.

 A Celebration of Joyce's Life will be held at the Presque Isle Rotary Pavilion on Friday, September 17th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with remarks at 5:30 p.m. The family thanks David Lesseski and Kathi Sutton for the care and compassion they extended Joyce and her children this past year.
