Julia "Judy" Margaret Jagta Summerson, age 91, of 2401 East Grandview Blvd., died Tuesday February 2, 2010 at Saint Vincent Health Center.

She was born July 14, 1918 in Holyoke, MA., a daughter of the late Karol and Karolina Rys Jagta. She lived in Erie most of her life. She worked for 42 years at Erie Resistor Co., which became Erie Technological Products and the Erie Murata, before retiring in 1984. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and longtime member of TOPS. She was a wonderful cook and an avid gardener. She enjoyed traveling, crossword puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, George F. Summerson, three brothers, Andrew, Frank and John Jagta and one sister, Regina Webster.

She is survived by one daughter, Christine E. Summerson and husband Ernie Leiberman of New York, NY; two sons, George A. Summerson of UT and Gregory M. Summerson of Erie; two sisters, Leona Besecker of Merced, CA and Mary Ventresca of Erie and two grandchildren, Jill E. Varner and Gregory M. Summerson USN of Girard. She is also survived by 4great- grandchildren, Samantha, Maria , Cole and Nathan.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a Funeral Mass on Saturday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1553 East Grandview Blvd., at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
