Karen A. Nelson Shaw Laney

Karen A. Nelson Shaw Laney, age 78, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Manor. She was born on April 28, 1945 in Erie, a daughter of the late Harold and Amelia Serafini Nelson.

Karen was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Class of 1964. She enjoyed playing cards, crafts, camping, and loved to bake. She was an active member of Daughters of the Nile and had served as Past Queen. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Laney; and her brother James E. Nelson.

Karen is survived by her two daughters, Wendy A. DiTullio (Joel) and Monica A. Cottrell (Greg); and her grandchildren, Eric and Alex DiTullio.

Friends are invited to call on Thursday at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, 2122 Raspberry Street, Erie, from 3 p.m. until the time of the service there at 6 p.m. Burial will be private in Erie County Memorial Gardens.
