Kathleen Marie Karg (Allio) Trabucco of Wake Forest, NC passed away on March 4th after a lengthy 15-year battle with Parkinson's Disease, one that she fought with dignity and grace at every turn. Kathy was born August 17, 1955, to the late Andrew P. and Mary Jane Karg in Oil City, PA. Kathy graduated from Venango Christian High School 1973. She earned a bachelor's degree from Slippery Rock State College and a master's degree along with teaching certificates in both Pennsylvania and North Carolina.
Kathy's life was rooted in her Catholic faith, and she embraced each day with a deep-seated commitment to it. Kathy grew up at St. Joseph Church. When she moved to the South Side, she was an active member of St. Stephen Church where taught CCD classes for over 15 years. She was a parishioner at St. Catherine of Siena in Wake Forest, NC and had served as a Eucharistic Minister in North Carolina.
Throughout her 30 years of teaching, Kathy's greatest joy was teaching children to read. She loved her profession and the students she taught-putting every ounce of her being into sharing her knowledge with these students. Kathy believed, wholeheartedly, that reading was the foundation for her students' success in life. She served as a mentor to many in her profession and as a team leader in her school until she retired from Wake County Schools in 2020.
Kathy enjoyed trying different sports-running, going for walks, and riding bikes were always favorites. She was a voracious reader and a fantastic cook. A freshly baked dessert or coffee cake would accompany her to every function or be served up to someone who she thought was in need cheering up. Card playing was serious business for Kathy, poker and bridge being her favorites. She played cards with many groups in Oil City, including the Belle Lettres Club and at the YWCA. Travel throughout the United States was always at the top of her list of fun things to do with family, but summer trips to the Outer Banks were her favorite. Kathy made time to volunteer on a regular basis. She delivered meals for Meals on Wheels, cooked and served at the women's shelter in Raleigh, and was a sponsor to women overcoming addiction. However, what mattered most to Kathy were her family and friends. She loved to stay in touch with the girls she grew up with on Hoffman Avenue, her group from Slippery Rock, and old friends and neighbors. Her children and grandchildren knew that they were the center of her life by the profound love she showed them.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Anthony of Wake Forest, NC; her children: Brian (Rosy) Allio of Matthews, NC, Eileen (Tushar) Marathe of Cary, NC, and her daughter-in-law Katherine Allio of Palm Coast, FL; her grandchildren: Matthew Allio, Margaret Marathe, and Samantha and Janie Allio; her brothers James (Noreen), of Manlius, NY and Kevin (Mary Beth), of Mars, PA; several nieces and nephews and her former husband, David Allio of Raleigh, along with many dear friends and cousins.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Reid Allio.
Kathy will be returning home to St. Joseph Church.
Her family will receive visitors in St. Joseph Church, 35 Pearl Ave. Oil City, PA on March 14, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection celebrated by Fr. Richard Allen, Pastor of St. Joseph, at Noon. Interment will be private in Calvary Cemetery, Oil City. PA.
