Kurt T. Caravaglia

Kurt T. Caravaglia, age 59, of Erie, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at UPMC Hamot following an extended illness.

He was born December 4, 1953 in Erie, a son of Gina Vagnarelli Caravaglia of West Virginia, and the late Louis Caravaglia.

He was owner of Caravaglia Builders. He was site Manager of "Erie Summer Festival of Arts" and past President of the National Association of Remodelers Industry (NARI). He had a passion for Sicilian culture and cuisine and taught local cooking classes. Kurt was an avid collector of antiques and antique cars.

He was preceded in death by his faithful dog, Luca.

Besides his mother he is survived by one son, Santangelo Battiste Caravaglia and Camille Milisenna Caravaglia, both of Erie; one sister, Gina Caravaglia of West Virginia; and seven brothers, Louis Christian Caravaglia, Kim Caravaglia, wife Kimberly, and Christopher Caravaglia, wife Susan, all of Erie, Thomas Caravaglia, wife Joanne, of Virginia, Dion Caravaglia, wife Bonnie of Connecticut, Jason Caravaglia, wife Karen of Virginia, and Sean Caravaglia, wife Sian of New Jersey. Also survived by one grandson, Richard Lee Hulsinger III, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 4701 Old French Road. The service will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a gathering at the church immediately following the internment. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
