Lidano "Leo" Vitelli
Lidano "Leo" Vitelli, age 87 of Erie, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 after an extended illness. He was born January 19, 1923, a son of the late Salvatore and Rose DeAngelis Vitelli.
Leo served his country in the South Pacific as a medic in the army during World War II. After the war he worked on the railroad for 9 years and then as an Erie Fireman, retiring with commendations after 23 years of service ending his career as a fire inspector. He is greatly loved by family and many friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Dano Vitelli and two brothers, Anthony Vitelli and Silvio Vitelli.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Elma Arduini Vitelli; three sons, Louis Vitelli and wife Ronnie of NC, John Vitelli and David Vitelli and wife Linda Vaydanich Vitelli; dear daughter, Andria Vitelli all of Erie; two sisters, Lydia Vitelli Borowy and Rena Vitelli Wierbinski; one brother, Salvatore "Sam" Vitelli all of Erie and nine grandchildren, Jonathan and wife Corinne Maas Vitelli, Nicholas and wife Carinne Dana Vitelli, Marcus, Danny and Michael also of Erie, Danielle, Nicolas and wife Crystal Finch Vitelli, Valerie and Zachary all of NC. He is further survived by three great-granddaughters, Lena, Gabrielle and Olivia and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Emmaus Soup Kitchen, 218 E. 11th St., Erie PA 16503 or to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 1001 State St., STE 1400, Erie, PA 16501.
