Linda Samuelson Puckly Foley
Linda (Samuelson) Puckly Foley, age 60 of Erie, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, after a 3 year courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 25, 1948 in Erie PA, a daughter of the late Ruthanne (Condry) Samuelson Arnold and the late David B. Samuelson. She graduated from Villa Maria H.S. in 1966. Linda was a homemaker for many years and then for several years worked in the checking department of Erie Federal Credit Union. Most recently she was employed by Erie County Farms, until shortly before her death. Linda lived in Erie all her life. She was an active member in St James Catholic Church. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. Linda enjoyed crafts and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an avid reader and challenged everyone to a good game of Scrabble.
Linda is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Michael (Mike) D. Foley, whom she married March 21, 1974; her children: son Chip Puckly and his wife Donna of League City Texas; daughter Melanie Puckly of Erie; daughter Stacy Reifsnyder and her husband Bryan of Aurora IL; daughter Bridget Gloss and her husband Norm of Mifflintown PA; son Sean Foley (USMC) and wife Golda of Vista CA; grandson Brady Puckly who lived with her for the past 13 years; her sister, Deborah Robertson and her husband Richard (Dick) of Lake City PA; grandchildren; Malee Puckly of Seffner FL, Caden and Conor Puckly of League City TX; Luke and Halle Reifsnyder of Aurora IL; Simon and Aiden Gloss of Mifflintown PA; Jenna Thomas of Erie; Pierce Foley of Vista Ca; nephew Christopher Robertson of Tampa Florida and several step nieces and nephews.; brother in law Patrick Foley of Youngstown OH; sisters in law Lynette Wurst and her husband John; and Karen Beck both of Erie. She leaves behind her beloved pets, Kody, Bootsy, Chowlin, Spadey and Jake.
Linda and her family would like to express their gratitude to Sen & Lynn and all the staff at Great Lakes Home Healthcare & Hospice for their support and compassion during her illness. Thanks also to Natalie and all the employees at Erie County Farms for their wonderful friendships.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a Memorial Mass on Thursday at Saint James R.C. Church, 2635 Buffalo Rd, at 10:30 am with Rev. James McCormick officiating. Linda has requested that memorials be made to The John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation 915 State St. Erie PA 16501; The Anna Shelter 1555 East 10th Street Erie PA 16503, or to the charity of one's choice.
