Lois Genevieve (Orth) Moore

Lois Genevieve (Orth) Moore died June 8, 2012 at Sarah Reed Retirement Home. Born October 5, 1924, the daughter of Orville and Anna Williams. Lois lived her last two years in Erie, PA and the rest of her life in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was an incredible woman with an indomitable spirit! Lois was an elevator operator at Young Quinlan in Minneapolis and headed the staff of "girls" who operated the elevators—typically a white blazer and gloves, high heels, and a lot of class in that 5' petite body of hers! Her retirement at age 70 was covered by all the news stations in Minneapolis; she liked to brag that she had even pre-empted then President Clinton on one television station!

Lois was preceded in death by first husband, John Orth, her parents and four siblings: Tom Williams (Betty), Dale Williams, Evelyn Theis (Harold Theis, also deceased) and Marion Williams. She is survived and will be missed by spouse Robert K. Moore, Sr., sister Anita Moen, brother-in-law Duke Moen. Skipping the "steps," Lois enthusiastically "inherited" three children and their spouses: Nancy Anne Kalista (Michael), Terry E. Moore (Cheryl), Robert K. Moore, Jr. (Joanie), six grandchildren: Joshua Smith (Jamee), Kate Kalista (fiancé Jack Richardson IV), Emily McMullin (Peter), Nathan Moore (Nicole), Brianna Smith (significant other Austin Mankey) and Ross Moore and four great-grandchildren: Matthew and Elizabeth Smith, Colin and Graeme McMullin. Several nieces and nephews in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, VNA of Erie, PA, the Organ Fund at First Christian Church in Paris, IL or the donor's choice. A prayer service will be held at Sarah Reed Retirement Home Chapel on Friday, June 15 at 4:00 p.m. Internment of her ashes will follow at a later date in Fort Snelling Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling arrangements.
