Margaret Anne Hughes Pieri

Margaret (Peggy) Anne (Hughes) Pieri, age 78, of Erie, passed on Friday, January 29, 2010 after a brief illness. She was born on February 26, 1931 in Franklin, PA, the daughter of the late Paul and Ruth Tocke Hughes.

She was a devoted housewife and a loving mother. Her hobbies included bingo, bocce, and bowling. She also enjoyed crocheting. She lived her life in a spirit of generosity, in the hospitality of shared food and friendship, and loved her family above all. She will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant son, Bruce.

Survivors include her husband, Philip Pieri, and a sister, Helen Miraldi, both of Erie; a brother, David Hughes and his wife Florence of Corpus Christi, TX; four sons: Thomas Pieri and his wife Diana of Mabelvale, AR, Philip Pieri, Matthew Pieri and his fiancée, Jennifer of Little Rock, AR, and Andrew Pieri of Erie; four daughters: Kathleen Pieri and her companion, Kim Gillespie of Erie, Christina Whaley and her husband Donald of Pahrump NV, Phyllis Klan and her husband Richard of Katy, TX, and Cheryl Servidio and her husband Gerald, both of Erie, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and are invited to attend a service there on Friday at 10:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Roman Catholic Church, 5145 Peach Street at 10:30 am. Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
