Marianne Leone Scalera

Marianne Leone Scalera, 95, of Erie, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. She was born February 6, 1926 in Erie, a daughter of the late Luigi and Matrona Bacada Leone.

Marianne was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School. She worked as a sales associate for 38 years at G.C. Murphy Co. and then several years at Liberty V & S.

Marianne was a talented seamstress and loved to knit and crochet, making heirlooms for friends and relatives. She also loved cooking and spending time with family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Vincent, Elpedio, Dominic, and Louis Leone.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Joseph Scalera; two sons, Albert Scalera (Kathleen) and Louis Scalera (Marie); four grandchildren, Joseph Scalera (Karen), James Scalera (Mitzi), Lisa Beck (Joey), and Maura Mobilia (Ismet); and five great-grandchildren, Marshall, Tucker, Alexander, Kaitlyn and Madison. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and may attend a Service there on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be Calvary Cemetery.
