Marie E. Patterson Mezzacapo

Marie E. Patterson Mezzacapo, age 89, resident of Millcreek Manor, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008, there after an extended illness.

She was born February 28, 1919 in Erie, a daughter of the late Robert and Alice McCord Patterson. She had become a widow early on and spent her entire life caring for her family and raising her nine children on her own. She had many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren who will miss her dearly. She was a loving and caring person to all who knew her. She loved to bake, play bingo and solve word puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herb Eicher; her second husband, Vincent Mezzacapo; three daughters, Virginia Brown, Evelyn Millett and Rosalie Knapp; one brother, Robert Patterson and one sister, Gladys Garafolo. She is survived by six daughters, Charleen Chimera, Kathleen Eicher, Jackie Jaraczewski, Geri Shaeffer and his husband Dennis, Angela Schultz and her husband Robert and Denise Whiteman and her husband Edward all of Erie and one brother, John Patterson and his wife Joann.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 7 to 9 pm and Saturday from 10 am until the time of service there at 11:00 am.

Our family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful staff at Millcreek Manor who took such great care of her this past year and to Hospice who made her final days so peaceful.
