Mary L. (Pallotto) DiPaolo

Mary L. "Babe" (Pallotto) DiPaolo, 93, of Erie, died Friday, February 19, 2010 at Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness. Known to her family as Babe and to her friends as Mary, she was born on December 10, 1916 in Erie to the late Peter and Florence (Matoni) Pallotto.

Mary was a member of Sacred Heart Church for over 60 years and was very active years ago with her husband, Pat. She had been a member of T.O.P.S. #86 for over 40 years. She was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards, especially in the card clubs with her friends. She was a past member of the Women's Montenero Society. She also enjoyed attending her great-grandchildren's basketball games and Sunday dinner at her grandson Tim's house.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Pasquale "Pat" DiPaolo in 1991 after 52 years of marriage; her two sisters Bella in infancy and Sylvia Zehner; her five brothers Anthony, Patsy, Nick, Albert and Joey Pallotto. Babe was the last surviving second generation of the Pallotto family. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law Larry Robbins in 1991 and many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter Patricia Robbins, with whom she resided, and her son District Judge Dominick DiPaolo and wife Janet; her grandchildren Gregory Robbins, Timothy Robbins and wife Lisa, Patrick DiPaolo and wife Beth, and Dawn DiPaolo-Romeo and husband Michael. Great-grandchildren include Alissa, Brenna and Connor Robbins, Julia and Dominick (Nico) DiPaolo and Gino and Gianna Romeo; a sister-in-law Mrs. Joseph (Joan) Pallotto of Ellicott City, MD and a brother-in-law George (Josephine DiPaolo) Touris, in addition to many nieces and nephews of the Pallotto and DiPaolo families.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there on Tuesday at 9:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 10 am. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.

The family would like to thank Holly, James and Amy from Great Lakes Home Healthcare, nurse Jessica Marino and all the nursing staff and doctors at Hamot Medical Center for their kindness and excellent care of their mother.
