Mary T. Polito Sawtelle Majchrzak

Mary T. Polito Sawtelle Majchrzak, 75, of Erie, died Friday, November 23, 2012 at Saint Vincent Health Center following a brief illness.

She was born April 7, 1937 in Carbondale, PA, a daughter of the late Salvatore D. and Carmela Esposito Polito. She had worked at Hammermill Paper Company for 43 years, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed travel to the Western United States and treasured her monthly meetings with her high school girlfriends. She loved gardening and was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Majchrzak, a sister Teresa Cimino and a brother, Frank Polito.

She is survived by four sons, Jeffrey D. Sawtelle and David B. Sawtelle, both of Erie; Stephen J. Sawtelle, Naples, FL, and Michael A. Sawtelle and his wife Lisa, Stuart, FL; two sisters, Rose Lobaugh and Carmela Witkowski, both of Erie; one brother, John Polito and his wife Elsie, Syracuse, NY; and dear friend, Carmela Orlando and her family. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Kristina Sawtelle, Nico, Kiana, Makai, Naiya Sawtelle and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a service there on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul's RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
