Michael E. Lachesky
Michael E. Lachesky, age 83, resident of Independence Court of Erie, formerly of Cherry Street, died Monday, January 3, 2011. He was born January 16, 1927 in Erie, a son of the late Ernest and Alice Dolenski Lachesky.
He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Italy. He was the owner of Lachesky's Gulf Service Station and Lachesky's Tire Company. He was a former member of Lake Shore Country Club for many years. He was a member of the Sienbenbuerger, Erie Maennerchor, East Erie Turners, Elks and Erepa Grotto Clubs. He was a Times Old Newsies and a member of the Residence Board of Independence Court of Erie. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a talented musician and artist.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Robert James Lachesky and a sister, Alice Zmyslinsky.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ellen Forfia Lachesky of Erie; three daughters, Suzanne Gallagher and husband Neil of Easton, PA, Mary Beth Daley and husband Ralph of Manassas, VA and Terese Lachesky of Erie; one son, Michael "Nino" R. Lachesky of Rochester, NY and a daughter-in-law, Paula Lachesky of Erie. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Wednesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm and may attend a service there and a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, on Thursday at times to be announced. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
