Michael John "Mike" Coughlin

Michael John "Mike" Coughlin, age 71, of North East, PA, and formerly of Erie, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at his home.

He was born March 7, 1941, in Erie, a son of the late Ellen "Pat" and John D. Coughlin. He retired in 1998 from the Human Resources Department of AMSCO-Steris, where he had worked for 33 years. Later he worked part time for John Ehrman's Allburn Florists. He was a graduate of Cathedral Prep and Gannon. He served in the United States Air Force . He was a former active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Erie and currently a member of St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Church in North East. He was a life member of the Times Old Newsies and the Erie Maennerchor and a former member of Lakeview Country Club. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in North East and a past volunteer for the Erie Zoological Society. Mike was an avid Notre Dame fan.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Judy Hart Coughlin and two children, Meghan Coughlin and her husband Kevin O'Connell, and their two daughters, Maeve and Rory, all of Pittsburgh, and his son, M. Brian Coughlin and his wife Amy, of South Bend, Indiana. He is also survived by his two sisters, Pat Brugger and Barb Coughlin, of Erie and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake Street, North East, PA on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Church, 48 South Pearl Street, North East, PA at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
