Mildred D. Danko Hornyak

Mildred D. Danko Hornyak, 81, of Erie, died Saturday, October 17, 2015 following a brief illness. She was born August 24, 1934 in Erie, a daughter of the late John and Anna Vereb Danko.

She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Strong Vincent High School. She had worked at the Boston Store, Boy Scouts of America, AMSCO and General Electric.

She loved bowling, bingo, playing cards and crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband George M. Hornyak; two brothers, John and Michael Danko; and two sisters, Mary Danko and Eleanor Lahr.

She is survived by her daughter Lydia H. Secara; her son John "J.B." Hornyak , both of Erie; adopted daughter Lisa Meinczinger (Phillip) of Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Anne Hornyak and Mary Tabaka, both of Erie; and two granddaughters, Brittany Barilla (Matt) of Charlotte, NC and Alexis Secara of Erie. Also surviving are nieces and nephews and her three granddogs Myrtle, Millie and Memphis.

No calling hours will be observed. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 7th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephen RC Church, 1237 West 21st Street.
