Mitchell A. Nawrocki

Mitchell A. Nawrocki, age 87, of Erie, died Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born February 12, 1923 in Erie, a son of the late Michael and Bertha Winciaszek Nawrocki. He served in the United States Navy on the carrier Okinawa Weetuck during World War II. He retired from the City of Erie as a Firefighter after 20 years of service and also worked for the Millcreek School District for 12 years. He served as a treasurer for the Erie Fire Fighters Pension Fund. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church and enjoyed fishing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine M. Yannitello Nawrocki and five brothers, Chuck, Hank, Walter, John and Stanley Nawrocki.

He is survived by two daughters, Lynne A. Digieso and husband James of Martinez, GA and Natalie A. McAdoo and husband Dale of Erie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday at Sacred Heart RC Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 11:00 a.m. The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling arrangements.
