Nicolena M. "Lena" Viggiano

Nicolena M. "Lena" Viggiano, age 97, of Erie, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Saint Vincent Health Center following a brief illness.

She was born April 16, 1914, in Erie, a daughter of the late Louis and Mary Grace Mattarazzo Viggiano. She lived in Erie her entire life. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and reading and was devoted to her family.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Augustine and Vincent Viggiano; and two sisters, Jennie Pizzi and Virginia Viggiano.

She is survived by three sisters, Dolores M. Viggiano, Louise V. Viggiano, and Ann Canella and her husband, Tony all of Erie. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.

No calling hours will be observed. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 1617 Walnut Street at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation, 130 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16501.
