Noemi "Mae" Gerbi DiBacco
Noemi "Mae" Gerbi DiBacco, age 96, of Erie, died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Saint Vincent Health Center.
She was born March 3, 1917 in Erie, a daughter of the late Tito and Fortuna Bonicoli Gerbi.
She was the co-owner and operator of DiSil's Cafe for 34 years.
Mae participated in an Italian Women's Card Club with her sister and many dear friends for over 70 years. She also enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband.
In addition to parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Anthony "Tony" DiBacco.
She is survived by her three daughters, Carol Rea of Auburn, ME, Sharon Aaron and husband Thomas and Karen Heberle and husband Thomas both of Erie; two sisters, Lena Savelli and Glorine Pizzo and husband Ben both of Erie and five grandchildren, Roslyn Webber and husband Paul of Seattle, WA, David Rea and wife Jenny of Boulder, CO, Angela Chmielewski and husband Leo of St. Louis, MO, Jennifer Heberle of Cleveland, OH and Rebecca Kalivoda and husband Peter of Houston, TX. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Mass on Friday at Saint Paul RC Church, 1617 Walnut Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.
