O. Joseph Ventresca

O. Joseph Ventresca, age 86, of Erie died Saturday, July 16, 2011 at UPMC Hamot after a brief illness. He was born September 10, 1924 in Erie, a son of the late Joseph and Ann Marie Cavicchio Ventresca. He lived in Erie his entire life. He worked at GE, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed golfing and playing cards.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Gary J. Ventresca, one brother, John Ventresca and one sister, Lillian Nielsen.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Jagta Ventresca of Erie; three daughters, Doreen A. Gladis and husband Tom, Gayann M. Burrell and husband Mike, and Renee M. Malstrom and husband John all of GA and two sisters, Rose Jagta and Mary Ventresca both of Erie. He is also survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Monday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Sacred Heart RC Church, 816 West 26th Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
