Orval A. "Bill" Williams, age 84, of Erie, died Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the VA Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born September 10, 1928 in Rimersburg, PA, a son of the late Clarence P. and Florence McNaughton Williams.

Bill proudly served in the United States Navy from 1949-1952 during World War II and the Korean War. He was the District 7 Commander for the Disabled American Veterans and the Patient State Representative at the VA Medical Center.

He retired from Angela's Beauty Supplies after many years.

Bill served as trustee and usher at his church for numerous years. He attended Koinonia 111 and was a member of the Legion of Honor of the Four Chaplains.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and Lawrence Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Louise Summerville Williams; one daughter, Cathy Durst and husband John; one son, Brian Williams and wife Cassandra all of Erie; one brother, Robert Blair and wife Trudy; one sister, Martha Mager and husband John both of Butler, PA and five grandchildren, Melissa, Andrew, Elizabeth, Kelsey and Kaitlyn. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, John David and Olivia.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Service there on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Erie County Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Hospice at the VA Medical Center or to the Patient Recreation Fund at the VA Medical Center, 135 East 38th St., Erie, PA 16504.
