Patricia "Pat" Coughlin Brugger

Patricia "Pat" Coughlin Brugger, 80, of Erie, died unexpectedly Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at her home. She was born June 1, 1934 in Erie, a daughter of the late John and Ellen "Pat" Carney Coughlin.

She was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy Class of 1952. She received her B.S. Degree from Edinboro University and her M.Ed. from Penn State University.

Pat worked as a teacher in the Erie School District and later for the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit.

Pat was an active member of Saint George Church and served on numerous committees. She was also a member of the Saint Vincent Hospital Auxiliary, Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, Glenwood YMCA, and several bridge clubs.

She was a sports enthusiast and a loyal Penn State fan.

Pat loved to celebrate family, friends, and life. She recently visited Ireland to commemorate her Irish heritage.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, L. Tim Brugger, who died on August 7, 2007 and a brother, Michael Coughlin.

She is survived by her four daughters, Susan Brugger Krakovsky (Joseph) of Jackson, NJ, Michele Brugger Orlando (John) of Erie, Bridget Brugger McSorley (Patrick) of Christiansburg, VA, and Trish Brugger Iovino (Paul) of Wexford, PA; sister, Barb Coughlin of Erie; sisters-in-law, Judy Coughlin of North East, PA, Paula Guerrein and Mary Ann Brugger, both of Erie; and nine grandchildren, Brooke and Lauren Krakovsky, Kailey and Michael Orlando, Morgan, Addison, and Connor McSorley, Finnegan and Collin Iovino. She is further survived by 18 nieces and nephews, 38 great-nieces and nephews, and 13 great-great-nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday evening from 7-9 pm, and Friday from 2-5 and 7-9 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at St. George RC Church, 5145 Peach Street, at 10 am. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery.
