Peter J. Calabrese

Peter Joseph Calabrese, age 75, of Erie, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021 at UPMC Hamot after an extended illness. He was born in Erie on August 6, 1945, a son of the late Peter and Rose Marino Calabrese.

Peter was a 1963 graduate of Technical Memorial High School. He served in the Navy as a Communications Technician for the NSA in Fort Meade, MD during the Vietnam War. Peter was a gentle man as well as a gentleman. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters-in-law, Myrna Calabrese and Rosemary Calabrese; a niece, Sharon Calabrese; and nephews, Gary Calabrese and Steven Calabrese.

Peter is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Lou Gavitt Calabrese; daughter, Kara Morgan (Matthew); son, Christopher Calabrese (Tiffany); brothers, Gary Calabrese and David Calabrese; sister, Carol Williams, of Valley Park, MO; sister-in-law, Carol Bisbee (Rick), of Congress, AZ; and grandchildren, Kyle Baney (Julia), Hunter Calabrese, and Sadie Morgan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and are invited to a graveside service on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in Section 10 at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
