Peter P. Wernicki

Peter P. Wernicki, age 62, of Erie died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at UPMC Hamot. He was born October 18, 1949 in Erie a son of the late Joseph and Sophie Yushkiewicz Wernicki. He lived in Erie all of his life.

Peter was a graduate of Cathedral Preparatory Class of 1967, Gannon University Class of 1972, and then received a Masters Degree from Gannon University.

Peter served in the United States Army Reserves. He was member and past president of Erie Traffic Club, member of PROBUS, and the Polish Falcons.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Paul Wernicki.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Josie M. Curci Wernicki of Erie; one son, Michael P. Wernicki and wife Maura of Youngstown, OH; two brothers, Anthony Wernicki of Erie and Michael Wernicki of FL; two sisters, Patricia Wernicki and Barbara Vahey both of Erie, and one sister-in-law, Gloria J. Garcia of Erie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Peach RC Church, 2401 West 38th Street, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
