Philomena Ann Oliviero DeLaura
Philomena "Phyllis" Ann Oliviero DeLaura, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Sunrise Assisted Living. She was born July 26, 1921 in Meadville, PA, a daughter of the late Frank and Carmella Dalessio Oliviero.
Phyllis was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School. She was a devout catholic and attended church regularly and was a parishioner of St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church. She taught kindergarten at St. Paul's School and was a Librarian aide at Emerson and Emerson-Gridley Elementary Schools.
She was a great cook and enjoyed reading, being around children and going on long walks.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband Louis "Pibby" DeLaura, a sister Rose Oliviero and two brothers, Patrick and Joseph.
She is survived by three daughters, Marsha and Deanna DeLaura of Erie; Pam DeLaura-Davis (Douglas), Detroit, MI; one son Robert DeLaura (Jeannie) of Erie; and a sister Ellen "Dolly" Gerber, Lorain, OH. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Christie and Justin DeLaura of Erie, and Louis and Zoe Davis of Detroit, MI., and several nieces and nephews.
No calling hours will be observed. Friends are invited to a Funeral Mass at Saint Paul's Roman Catholic Church, 1617 Walnut Street, on Thursday, January 12th at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Calvary Cemetery.
The John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, is handling the arrangements.
