Ralph Eugene Shultz
Ralph Eugene Shultz, age 84, of Erie, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at the Pennsylvania Soldiers and Sailors Home.
Ralph was born on February 4, 1929 in Centre County, PA. He was the son of the late Louis and Anna Eyer Shultz. Besides his parents he was preceded death by his brother, Harold Shultz, as well as two sisters, Phyllis Szuba and Betty Cann.
Ralph was a graduate of Howard High School in Howard, PA and Gannon University with a degree in industrial engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served 15 months in Korea. After returning to Erie he began working at American Sterilizer (Steris) where he was employed for 43 years.
He was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, Sunday School superintendent, and girls basketball coach. He was also instrumental in yearly preparations for Eastminster Day Camp. Ralph was an excellent basketball player, loved sports of all kinds, and was always rooting for his beloved Yankees. After God, family was the most important thing in Ralph's life. He always looked forward to their two week vacation at the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Charlotte Voss Shultz of Erie, as well as his daughter, Ann Huffer and her husband Randy of Midlothian, VA. along with his two beloved granddaughters, Kelsey Huffer of Fairfax, VA and Lindsey Huffer of Richmond, VA. In addition, he is survived by three sisters, Shirley Young and Nevada Higley of Bellefonte, PA and Faye Marshall (Leon) of Howard, PA. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Elaine Glass (Richard), nephews, Timothy Glass (Peggy) and Matthew Glass (Kelley) all of Erie, and niece, Carol Shultz of Bellefonte, PA.
Friends may call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a Funeral Service on Monday at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 2320 East Lake Road, Erie, PA 16511, at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
