Raymond A. Phillips
Raymond A. Phillips, 85, of Erie passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at Twinbrook Medical Center. He was born in Erie on May 16, 1922, son of the late Anthony and Clara Cacchione Phillips.
Ray served in the United State Army during World War II. Prior to retiring, Ray had been employed by Curley Adjustment Bureau where his career as an insurance investigator spanned over fifty years. Ray impressed many who met him with his integrity, candor and fairness and his employer received many testimonies of appreciation. Ray was an avid perch and walleye fisherman and spent many sun-burned hours trolling the trenches while telling tales of the "old days". He also enjoyed writing, but more than anything else, Ray got the greatest pleasure from being in the company of his family and friends who all thought the world of him.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Katherine Phillips, a grandson, Thomas Phillips, one brother, Arthur Phillip and two sisters, Pearl Torrelli and Ann Kuligowski.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Stella Rogofsky Phillips, three sons, David Meloni and his wife Gail of CA, Robert Phillips and his wife Jeanine of Erie, Daniel Phillips and his wife Denise of Panama City, FL, two daughters, Elizabeth Baughman and her husband, David of Waterford, PA and Mary Hecht and her husband, Michael of Irwin, PA. He is further survived by one sister, Dorothy Jenkins, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home, Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Friday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend a service there on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament RC Church, 1626 West 26^th Street, at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
